We encourage drivers to make strong healthy real world connections.
- To meet for coffee at a truck stop when out on the road.
- Meet up with those group members in the local area.
- Come to a national event.
Whatever it is... healthy real world connection helps improve the online space and the feeling of connection to others.
Safe and Respectful
We try to make the group welcoming to all. Traditionally the mainstream gay community is focused on how people look or act rather than their abilities or stories.
GTUK wants our community to be drivers first, gay second. With age and and physical appearance not a factor in creating those friendships. One community of gay drivers where age and experience is valued and younger drivers supported.
We try to make the group as safe and as inclusive as possible. Thankfully the group supports that ethos and is quick to act when they sense someone is being inappropriate.
We dont allow the posting of 'thirsty' pictures as we belive this isn't the platform for it. Healthy meaningful connections rather than quick gratification.
Reducing Isolation
Its no secret that the haulage industry places a huge strain on drivers abaility to make and maintain healthy friendships and relationships. With long and unpredictable hours and a lack of understanding from those not in the industry.
This is even more acute for LGBT drivers who may be estranged from their family or disconnected from their local LGBT community.
GTUK provides an online platform allowing drivers to interact socially or ask for help and assistance whether it be trucking specific or about a wider support issue.
